The first part of the book describes the geography, archeology and history of the Cascais borough. This is followed by descriptions of points of cultural or touristic interest in the town of Cascais and in each of the six parishes making up the borough. Much of the information is derived from Portuguese-language articles in newspapers, popular magazines and scientific journals that were published many years ago and that would not be available to the average English-speaker visiting, or living in the area.

The text is complemented by 57 maps or drawings and by approximately 265 photographs.
