Durante a pesquisa e a escrita do livro “The Cascais-Sintra Area: A Walker’s Guide”, o autor compilou uma grande quantidade de informação geográfica que incluiu numa base de dados de mapas. Partes da base de dados foram incluídas como mapas do tamanho das páginas nesse livro. Entretanto, o grande formato do livro, e o arranjo dos páginas indivíduais, era incómodo para caminhantes dedicados. Consequentemente, decidiu-se compilar um livro mais conveniente, que mostra uma seleção das caminhadas mais apreciadas pelo autor, com algumas fotos e informação para cada uma.

During the course of researching and writing the book “The Cascais-Sintra Area: A Walker’s Guide”, the author compiled a large amount of geographical information that he incorporated intoamapdata-base. Partsofthedata-basewereincludedaspage-sizemapswithinthatbook. However, the large size of the book, and the arrangement of the individual maps within the book, were inconvenient for dedicated walkers. Consequently, it was decided to compile a more convenient, pocket-size book showing a selection of the walks most enjoyed by the author, with some photos and information for each walk.
